4 Key Differences Between Swords and Lightsabers to Remember When Dueling

The rey skywalker lightsaber is a replica of the female Jedi Master Rey’s sword. Like most other lightsabers, it is an ideal weapon for both defense and offense. Lightsabers were great for blasting through doors, cutting metal and flesh with ease. One of the key uses of a good lightsaber was to deflect blaster bolts that were directed towards the person wielding it.

Whenever you are buying a lightsaber, you must ensure it has this feature too. Lockup and blaster deflection are important for successful defense while dueling. In the movies, a skilled fighter would be able to reflect shots back to the sender or even redirect them to other targets. A lukeskywalker force fx lightsaber is a great option for deflecting blasters. It has a classic design that most people like. Some people are tempted to call a lightsaber a sword, but they are not at all the same thing. Below are some differences between a sword and a lightsaber:

The difference between a sword and a lightsaber

1)    Materials used to make them – A sword was often made of metal, but a lightsaber had a metal hilt and the blade was made of plasma. Powered by crystals, the owner of the sword did not have to rely wholly on his or her own strength. The force was present to assist.

Weight – With a sword, one had to worry about the balance of the weapon. If it was too heavy in the hilt, then the blade became too light, making it impossible to “feel”. If it was too heavy, it became difficult to swing, meaning that it was difficult to swing, stop, and change directions mid-swing. A lightsaber was generally weightless and easy to swing. That is why when purchasing your rey skywalker lightsaber, you want to ensure that it swings easy.

Cutting edges – A sword, being flat, has only two cutting edges. A lightsaber, however, has a 360-degree cutting edge. As long as you are swinging, it will cut once it comes into contact with your opponent or anything else for that matter. You have to remember that your luke skywalker force fx lightsaber has the ability to cut through metal, wood, and all kinds of matter.

Feeling the weapon – When one is cutting with a sword, the feeling of it is in their hand. With a lightsaber, you have to be able to feel with the force. Basically, it is sensed through the force and not felt physically. Obviously when dueling this is not how it works, but in the Star Wars movies the force had to guide you in wielding your lightsaber.

With that understanding, you can now duel as one who has an understanding of the weapon and how it works. Don’t wield a lightsaber as you would a sword. Remember that it cuts all round and does not have two edges. In addition, remember that it cuts through different surfaces and a variety of materials. It is lightweight and can deflect blasters that have been sent your way. Happy dueling.
